Richardson International and other processors have announced Canadian canola crushing expansions, lifting national capacity by 4.6 million tonnes, or about 42%, to 15.6 million tonnes by 2024. Viterra plans a 2.5 million-tonne plant at Regina, and Cargill plans a 1 million-tonne crusher.
Higher crush capacity boosts canola demand and is expected to raise meal output, which could pressure canola meal prices over time.
