The U.S. International Trade Commission determined that the U.S. methionine industry is materially injured by imports from France. Commerce will issue an antidumping duty order on those imports, though they will not be subject to retroactive duties.
The ITC's full report is expected by July 15, with final determinations on Spain and Japan due in August.
Antidumping duties on French methionine should reduce low-priced import competition in the U.S. and support domestic methionine prices, which raises feed-ration costs for U.S. poultry and swine buyers.
