International fertiliser markets are seeing unseasonal price and demand gains, with some prices at historic highs. Ammonia is the main driver, with unplanned shutdowns at SAFCO IV in Saudi Arabia and a Ma'aden unit tightening merchant supply.
Strong crop prices are also supporting demand.
Ammonia shortages push up urea and nitrate prices, raising input costs for feed grain production. Restarts in Indonesia and Egypt provide only partial relief, so prices are likely to stay elevated.
