The Bank of Korea extended its $60 billion currency swap arrangement with the US Federal Reserve for three months until the end of 2021. The won closed at 1,130.4 per dollar that day, up 13.2 won, after the Fed signalled earlier tightening.
The swap extension provides a dollar liquidity backstop that reduces the risk of disorderly won moves, limiting sharp currency-driven swings in Korean feed import costs.
