Ukrainian processors stopped buying sunflower seed in late May because they could not sell their sunflower oil stocks at high prices. Purchase prices for sunflower delivered to plants fell 20-25% to 20,000-20,500 UAH per tonne.
Analysts warn prices could fall to 18,000-19,000 UAH if oil demand does not recover.
Weak sunflower oil demand and processors' unsold stocks cut crush margins and seed prices, which points to lower sunflower oil values until stocks clear.
