According to Ukraine's State Customs Service, China imported 1.69 million tonnes of Ukrainian sunflower meal in September-May 2020/21, up 5% year on year. China's share of Ukraine's sunflower meal exports rose to 45% from 39%, while Ukraine's total sunflower meal exports fell 9% to 3.75 million tonnes.
Stronger Chinese demand for Ukrainian meal supports sunflower meal export prices even as overall Ukrainian supply shrinks. The effect on world meal prices is modest.
