The National Research Council of Canada and Corteva Agriscience are starting a research project to raise protein and energy content and reduce fibre in canola seed and meal. The work is part of the Protein Industries Canada supercluster.
The goal is new canola varieties and higher-value uses for canola meal.
Higher-protein, higher-energy canola meal would improve feed value over time, but the project is early-stage and has no near-term effect on supply or prices.
