USDA's June WASDE raised its 2021-22 forecast for China's barley imports to a record 10.6 million tonnes, up from 10 million. It also raised global barley imports to 33.7 million tonnes and EU barley production by 700,000 tonnes to 56 million tonnes.
A record Chinese import forecast tightens global barley export availability and supports prices. The higher EU crop partly offsets this, limiting the upside for feed barley.
