MSC announced a general rate increase effective July 15, 2021 on all cargo from US West Coast ports including Long Beach, Oakland and Seattle to the Indian Subcontinent, Middle East and Red Sea. The increase covers dry, reefer and special equipment shipments.
Container surcharges on US exports to South Asia and the Middle East add to already elevated shipping costs, mainly affecting containerized agricultural exports rather than bulk grain prices.
