Australian processors cut slaughter cattle grid rates by 35 to 40 cents per kg in the past fortnight, yet weekly kill volumes held near record levels. Grid prices were unchanged in southern Queensland at 410-415c for heavy cows and 460-475c for grassfed steers.
Steady processor throughput despite lower grids shows ample Australian cattle supply, which weighs on export beef pricing. The effect on US feed and grain markets is minimal.
