Russia's agriculture ministry set a first floating export duty of $169.90/t on sunflower oil, effective 1 September. The duty aims to stabilise domestic prices.
Exporters disagree on whether it will cut export prices or create local oversupply, and Russia's sunflower seed export duty was raised to 50% earlier.
The export duty may depress Russian sunflower oil and seed prices and redirect volumes, changing competitiveness and export flows in global vegetable oil markets.
