Belarus Potash Company, the exporting arm of Belaruskali, said Western sanctions on Belaruskali would raise global potash prices and reduce availability. The U.S. blacklisted Belaruskali and imposed other measures on Belarusian leader Lukashenko, but BPC itself was not sanctioned.
BPC supplies about 20% of global potash trade.
Sanctions on a major potash exporter tighten an already tight market, and analysts expect higher prices and less supply, especially if buyers fear secondary sanctions.
