The Korean won fell to a one-year low of 1,188.55 per dollar on Wednesday before trading near 1,184. Bloomberg reports that DB Financial Investment and NH Futures expect it could reach 1,200 by December as exports moderate and the dollar strengthens on expected US tapering.
The won has lost more than 6% since end-May.
A weaker won raises the local-currency cost of imported feed ingredients and makes Korean buyers less competitive in dollar-priced grain and meal, while a stronger dollar tends to pressure dollar-denominated commodity prices.
