IndexBox reports that global chicken meat prices have risen sharply in 2021, driven by restored foodservice demand, higher feed grain and food costs, and a slowdown in EU, South Korean and Japanese slaughter. Shipping container costs are also lifting export prices, while global production is forecast flat at 123M tonnes.
Tighter broiler supply and higher feed costs support chicken prices, and buyers of feed should expect those cost pressures to persist. Saudi Arabia's ban on Brazilian chicken could further tighten export availability.
