Construction has started on a $35 million agricultural export facility at Jones Island in the Port of Milwaukee. The terminal will include a railyard for 110 hopper cars and storage for 45,000 metric tons of DDGS.
It is designed to export the ethanol byproduct to Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The new Great Lakes export capacity could move more Midwest DDGS overseas, modestly improving outlets for ethanol co-products. The effect on prices is limited until the terminal is operating.
