Malaysian palm oil output is on course for its weakest showing in five years as planters face the worst labor shortage in the country's history. The Malaysian Palm Oil Association says output may fall below 18 million tons this year, at least 6% lower than last year.
Low yields are expected to persist through March.
A shortfall of this size tightens global vegetable oil supply and supports palm oil prices, which feed into the cost of feed fats and oils.
