Polish poultry producers have rebuilt most of their broiler breeding stock, now at 22.8 million heads, after losing up to 1.8 million breeders to avian influenza in 2021. Twelve million birds were culled this year across 339 outbreaks, though the last confirmed case was on 9 August.
Faster recovery of breeding stock limits the supply shock to EU poultry meat, which keeps chicken output and feed demand closer to normal and reduces upward pressure on prices.
