The Belgian Feed Association warned of extreme feed price increases caused by an overstretched raw materials market. Matif wheat has risen €120 per tonne since September and passed €300 per tonne earlier in November.
Linseed, rapeseed meal, amino acids and vitamins have also become very expensive, and availability is tight.
Wheat above €300/t and rising rapeseed meal costs raise compound feed costs, with the weak euro and biodiesel demand adding to pressure on European and imported feed ingredients.
