MSC will raise its Suez Canal Surcharge on shipments from East Africa, the Red Sea and Saudi Arabia to the US and Puerto Rico, effective January 1, 2022. The surcharge is set at USD 75 per 20-foot and USD 150 per 40-foot container, reflecting a further Suez toll increase.
Higher container surcharges on Red Sea routes add modest cost to trade in goods and ingredients, a minor upward nudge to shipping costs.
