The IMF Executive Board met on December 22 to discuss an ex-post evaluation of Argentina's 2018 Stand-By Arrangement, the largest in the Fund's history. The review covers June 2018 to August 2019 and examines the program's design, objectives and the justification for exceptional access to financing.
The evaluation includes the Argentine authorities' response.
The review is a backward-looking assessment of the prior program and does not itself change Argentina's near-term export or currency outlook. It may, however, inform the terms of the current IMF negotiations that affect peso policy and grain export flows.
