The Canadian Grain Commission found average canola oil content of about 42 percent in more than 2,000 samples, well below the 10-year average of 44.4 percent and the lowest since 2003. Some samples tested as low as 33 percent.
Lower oil content means less edible oil recovered per tonne crushed, which tightens canola oil supply and supports canola prices.
