The Iowa Soybean Association projects a record Iowa soybean crop of 611 million bushels at 61 bushels per acre. Soybean oil has reached near price parity with soybean meal, driven by renewable fuel and biodiesel demand, and meal prices are down about 20% for the calendar year.
Stronger oil demand is driving more crushing, which increases meal supply and keeps meal prices low, a benefit for feed buyers. The large crop adds supply pressure on soybeans.
