A planned container truck strike at two companies serving the Port of Vancouver, scheduled for Friday, was called off after Unifor reached a deal with Prudential Transportation at the deadline. Aheer Transportation had signed earlier.
The agreements cover health and insurance coverage and higher waiting-time payments, and the union said the strike would have affected about 10% of vehicles serving the port.
Avoiding the stoppage means one fewer disruption at Canada's busiest port while it recovers from storm damage to rail. Export flows of grain and oilseeds are less likely to slow further.
