UK officials said poultry farmers have been forced to cull 500,000 birds after avian flu outbreaks, with about 40 confirmed outbreaks this season against 24 in all of 2020-21. Northern Ireland culled about 22,000 ducks and wild bird infections exceed 300 in Britain.
The rapid rise in outbreaks points to continued poultry supply losses in the UK, supporting chicken and egg prices.
