Live cattle futures rose sharply on the CME, with the June contract trading limit up in some live and feeder cattle contracts. Cash cattle traded in the mid-130s and boxed beef was strong.
Grain closes showed July CBOT wheat down a quarter cent at 4.29½ and July corn down 1½ cents at 3.70¾, and June Class III milk fell $0.08 to $16.62.
Tight cattle supplies and strong cash and boxed beef prices push live and feeder cattle higher, while softer grain and milk closes add modest pressure to feed and dairy values.
