US sorghum new-crop export sales for the week of December 16, 2021 reached a marketing-year high of 16.6 million bushels, mostly to China. Shipments of 12.4 million bushels were also a marketing-year high, primarily to China.
Purchases stood at just over 200 million bushels, or 63 percent of the USDA's estimate, with eight months left in the marketing year.
Record export commitments and shipments to China draw down US sorghum supplies and support prices. Strong demand also supports feed buyers' expectations of firm sorghum pricing.
