Alabama Governor Kay Ivey announced that Evonik plans to invest $176.5 million in a methyl mercaptan plant at its Mobile facility. The plant is scheduled to start in the second half of 2024 and will strengthen the site as a methionine hub.
The project adds intermediate capacity for DL-methionine in the Americas, a long-dated supply improvement with no immediate price effect.
