The US and Japan carried out a rare joint intervention to support the yen after it fell to its weakest level against the dollar in about four decades. Japan reportedly sold roughly $59 billion of dollars to buy yen, and both governments left open the possibility of further action.
Coordinated intervention weakens the dollar against the yen and can ripple through global currency and bond markets, shifting the relative cost of US feed exports for Japanese and other Asian buyers. The move was partly reversed, so its lasting price effect on feed commodities is limited.
