Evonik has resumed operations at its Mepron rumen-protected methionine plant in Mobile, Alabama. The company says it will again supply U.S. dairy customers from this local source.
The U.S. has over nine million high-performance dairy cows and is the largest single market for Mepron.
Restarting domestic Mepron output adds regional methionine supply for US dairy rations, which slightly reduces reliance on imports. The impact on feed prices is small.
