Jefferson County Port Authority announced on May 19 a $25 million Missouri state grant to develop a container facility on the Upper Mississippi south of St. Louis. The funds will buy equipment for American Patriot Holdings' container-on-vessel service.
The grant expands container barge capacity on the Mississippi, which may help ease some river logistics bottlenecks, though the effect on grain freight prices is minor.
