IFFO data show global use of marine raw materials in March 2022 was 6% lower than in March 2021, with fishmeal output rising only in India, Iceland/North Atlantic and Africa. The decline is largely attributed to a slow start to Peru's fishing season after its late-2021 quota was landed.
Lower year-on-year fishmeal and fish oil output points to tighter global supply, which supports prices for feed buyers while Peru's season remains slow.
