Shinhan Bank expects the US dollar to rise against the Vietnamese dong early in the second half of 2022 before falling back toward year-end, to around VND23,000. The bank's H2 outlook cites FDI inflows, domestic demand and tourism recovery, while noting slowing external demand and a possible link to yuan weakness.
A firmer dong would lower the local cost of imported feed ingredients such as corn and soymeal priced in dollars, though the forecast is a bank view rather than a confirmed move.
