The EIA released an on-time weekly diesel price that fell 10.7 cents to $5.558 a gallon, bringing the total decline from the June 20 high to 24.2 cents. ULSD futures on CME rose 9.52 cents that day to $3.7681 a gallon, moving independently of crude and gasoline.
Retail diesel is lagging a rebound in futures, so the benchmark may fall less than wholesale prices imply. This matters for freight and fuel-surcharge costs that feed buyers pay.
