The Philippine Department of Agriculture has introduced measures to raise poultry production and stabilize prices after chicken prices rose on strong demand and low output. Day-old chicks, hatching eggs and pullets may move from mainland Luzon to other islands if they test negative for avian influenza.
The DA is also seeking cheaper feed ingredient sources and lifted a ban on poultry imports from Spain, Denmark and the Czech Republic.
Easing movement restrictions and import access may gradually lift local chicken supply, but tight output and high feed costs keep regional prices elevated in the near term.
