A Texas A&M AgriLife report finds late-planted sorghum is a poor option for Texas growers hit by drought, with few assurances on yield and rising costs. Irrigated growers are largely sitting out the planting, and no good growing guidance exists for much of the state.
Reduced late-season sorghum planting in Texas means less additional supply later in the year, which modestly supports sorghum prices. The effect is limited because the acreage involved is small.
