USDA forecasts China's canola imports will rise to 2.7 million tonnes in 2022-23 from 1.9 million in 2021-22, still well below the over 4 million tonnes China bought before its trade dispute with Canada. China recently lifted its ban on canola exports from Richardson International and Viterra.
A slower Chinese recovery leaves canola exposed to a possible glut, which is bearish for canola and the vegetable oil complex. Stronger EU demand could partly offset this.
