MarketsFarm analyst Bruce Burnett says canola crush margins are very high, at about C$215 per tonne for nearby and C$124 for 2023 positions. StatCan raised its 2022 canola production estimate to 19.5 million tonnes, and crush could reach 11 million tonnes against an 18 million tonne total use forecast.
Strong crush margins should lift canola crushing demand and tighten supplies, supporting canola meal output and prices.
