The American Farm Bureau Federation says families will pay record retail prices for turkey this Thanksgiving, with breast meat at $6.70 per pound. Egg prices are $2.34 per dozen, 27% above last year, and production costs for feed, fuel, fertilizer and labor are at record levels.
High production costs and HPAI losses keep poultry prices elevated, which supports feed demand from poultry producers. Farmers are not profiting from record retail prices, so supply response may stay limited.
