The European Food Safety Authority's FEEDAP panel concluded that L-lysine monohydrochloride and L-lysine sulfate produced by Corynebacterium glutamicum are safe for all animal species, consumers and the environment. The panel found the additives to be effective sources of L-lysine.
A positive EU safety opinion eases approval for these lysine products in European feed, supporting broader use and modestly adding to supply competition in the amino acid market.
