Peru's fishmeal and aquaculture industries are awaiting the announcement of the second anchovy season quota, which is expected to start in mid-November and run into January 2023. The global fishmeal industry recently produced about 5 million tons of fishmeal and 1.2 million tons of fish oil on favorable quotas and climate.
The size of the Peruvian anchovy quota sets much of the world's fishmeal supply for the coming months, so a larger or smaller quota would move fishmeal prices and feed-protein costs.
