Bank Negara Malaysia's international reserves rose by USD4.5 billion, or 4.2%, to USD109.7 billion as of 30 November 2022. The gain was driven mainly by foreign currency reserves, which rose on a weaker US dollar and yuan appreciation.
Reserves were sufficient to cover 5.3 months of imports.
Stronger reserves support ringgit confidence, which can ease the local currency cost of imported feed. The effect on commodity prices is small.
