Mosaic said on January 25, 2023 that it does not yet see market conditions suitable to restart its idled Colonsay potash mine in Saskatchewan, citing high inventories in the US and Brazil and cold weather slowing rail from Canada. The company expects to move more product after the first quarter, with the mine's annual rate at 1.3 million tonnes.
Delayed restart keeps potash supply tight in the near term, while high channel inventories in key buyer markets cap immediate price upside ahead of spring application season.
