VNDirect expects Vietnam's foreign exchange reserves to rise from $90 billion in 2022 to $102 billion by the end of 2023. The reserves had fallen below the IMF-recommended three months of imports after the central bank sold over 20% of its reserves in the first ten months of 2022.
The brokerage links the recovery to a $13.4 billion trade surplus and a current account surplus of 1.4% of GDP.
A rebuilt reserve buffer would ease pressure on the dong and reduce the risk of currency-driven swings in Vietnamese import costs for feed. The report is a forecast and does not directly move feed commodity prices.
