A Korea Economic Daily poll of 50 chief financial officers found most expect the won to stay weaker than 1,200 per dollar in 2023. Companies said profitable levels are roughly 1,100 to 1,200 per dollar.
The won fell 6% in 2022 and hit a low of 1,444.2 in October.
Expectations of a persistently weak won would keep the cost of dollar-priced feed imports elevated for Korean buyers. The poll is a sentiment survey, so it does not by itself move spot prices.
