Soybean cash basis at harvest was the strongest in over 20 years, with the national average at 22 cents under January futures in late December. DTN's Todd Hultman attributed the strength to a record crush premium of $3.52/bu, well above the usual $1.50 to $2.00.
Record crush margins give processors strong incentive to keep buying beans, supporting soybean cash prices and underpinning meal and oil supply.
