Duke University researcher Lincoln Pratson released GIS-based modelling of trade and shipping impacts if any of the world's 11 busiest marine chokepoints were closed. The study uses 2019 trade data to simulate closures of routes including the Suez Canal and Bab el Mandeb.
The analysis is a planning tool and does not itself change flows or prices, though it highlights the freight risk from chokepoint closures to feed commodity trade.

Moves of each commodity's benchmark from the last close before the event. Historical reads pool past events of the same kind; they describe what happened, not what will. Not investment advice.
