Cotton Incorporated reports that USDA's January WASDE estimates US cotton production at 14.7 million bales, down 16% year on year. Harvested acres fell to the lowest since 2013, though the fiber yield per acre is expected to set a record.
Lower cotton output reduces whole cottonseed availability in the Southwest and West, so cattle producers there may need to source feed from other regions at higher cost.
