Cargill is expanding crush capacity at its Australian plants with a US$50 million investment in Newcastle, Narrabri and Footscray. The plans include restarting Narrabri as a cottonseed dehulling plant and adding cottonseed crushing at Newcastle.
The company cites strong domestic and international demand for canola and cottonseed oil.
More Australian crush capacity means greater output of canola and cottonseed meal for feed. Strong demand for the oil points to firm underlying oilseed values.
