Russia's largest lysine plant, Premix plant number 1 in Shebekino, suspended production after a missile attack on May 31, 2023. The plant makes about 80,000 tons of feed lysine a year, more than half of Russian domestic lysine demand, and it is unclear when output will resume.
Losing this supply removes a major source of Russian lysine, which should support global lysine prices and lift demand for Chinese exports to fill the gap.
