CRU analyst Ju Hao told the 2023 World Potash Conference that global potassium chloride demand will rise 8.9% in 2023 to 64.2 million tonnes, still below the roughly 71 million tonnes seen in 2020 and 2021. He also expects crop prices to ease but stay medium-high, with US and Brazilian acreage supporting fertilizer demand.
Demand recovery is slower than the pre-2022 peak, and about 8.8 million tonnes of new capacity is due by 2027, which keeps potash prices under pressure for feed-crop input costs.
